Roger Townley

Marlborough born and raised Roger Townley started his carpentry apprenticeship with a local builder after finishing his education at the Marlborough boy’s college. In 2008 at 23, Roger won the Apprentice of the Year for the Nelson / Marlborough / West Coast region in the National Registered Master Builders Carters 2008 Apprentice of the Year competition.

After 8 years working in the building industry, Roger moved to Australia and worked in the mining sector. He spent two years as the lead hand / supervisor, building accommodation camps for the mining community.

In 2014 upon his return to Marlborough Roger settled straight back into the local building industry, within 6 months had started his own business “Roger Townley Construction” as a sole trader. Roger’s reputation for his attention to detail and passion for building began to grow quite quickly, and soon began employing other carpenters for his thriving business.

In 2019 Roger and his team proudly won a gold in the Master Builders house of the year regionals, with an exquisite, architecturally designed home, that stood out with its contemporary presence. View the project here.

Roger is an executive member of the Marlborough Branch of the Master Builders Committee, working with others to deliver high standards in the building industry.
